• TO LIFT THE CORNERS OF THE LIPS THAT DOWNTURN WITH AGE MAKING THE APPEARANCE THAT ONE IS FROWNING... WHEN THEY ARE, IN FACT, NOT FROWNING
• TO GIVE FULLNESS TO THE UPPER AND/OR LOWER LIP
Enhancing the lips is one of the procedures that can be done, that can have a huge impact on the overall restoration of the entire face. The aging process and sun exposure naturally deflates lip volume over time. Atrophy (loss of baby fat) and loss of elastin occurs in the lips and lower face with aging. By restoring lip volume to its original plumpness, a refreshed and youthful appearance can be readily achieved and a turn that frown up-side down.
Filler is Hyaluronic acid (HA), a sugar-based gel that looks and feels like thin clear Jello® is made by your body and synthetically made as Cosmetic Filler. Your body naturally produces hyaluronic acid to support skin cell, lubricate joints, and gives eyes their spherical structure. As we age, our body produces less and less hyaluronic acid, especially in the cells located in the lower face, around the mouth and within the lips. Other factors contributing to aging of the lower face and lips are: sunlight, environmental toxins, stress and cigarette smoke.
Some patients have had thin lips all their lives and they would like to enhance their lips to bring them to a more “normal” size relative to their face; other patients simply would like to have their lips accentuated for the purpose of making them more full or voluminous. Still other patients would like to have correction of lip lines or “smoker’s lines”, although they may not have necessarily have been caused by smoking, but can be caused by pursing lip expressions with speech. Finally most patients seek to have their "frowned lip corners turned upside" and do not wish to have lips fuller. All of these goals can be achieved with filler during a single treatment session.
For many who undergo lip augmentation, Juvederm®, Restylane® and Perlane® are used a pure forms of hyaluronic acids.
